Media Tidbits

One of the greatest joys I found in planning and hosting college event was the opportunity to learn something new. In my past experiences, research-based projects allowed me to widen my perspective in the most intriguing ways. Here's an example of some slide shows I've presented at events!

Creole 101 was a collaboration between the Haitian Cultural Association (a group which I founded) and the Cape Verdean Cultural Student Association to educate about the similarities and differences in both Haitian and Cape Verdean cultures, with respect to the Creole language.

Colorism in the Media was a discussion hosted by Umoja and it addressed the issue of color complexes often found in the Black culture. This was one of the first educational/awareness-based programs I hosted. I had a great time researching the topic and found interactive ways to engage our members!

One thing I've learned is that creativity is often a product of necessity.

In the world of event planning, effective PR is just as important as the time and attention that goes into executing a successful event. When my graphic designer and good friend graduated from college and moved out of Boston (being no longer readily accessible to assist in flyer designs) I realized the need for me to know how to make my own. I did some research, downloaded some software and made it happen. The product? Not too bad, if I do say so myself!

Past Flyers I've created -

It's always a pleasure when I get to share my purpose with a broader audience. From interviews on camera to being featured in articles written by BU Today and the Boston Metro, I love being able to bring attention to the causes I support through programming :-)
